Skip the Chaos. Do December the Perry Way.

Downtown Perry settles into the holiday season with small but intentional details— white lights threaded through the trees, garlands wrapped around the lampposts, holiday banners, and storefront windows that invite you to slow down and look closely. Cossart Design and Sweet Evelyn's always deliver memorable displays, and together they help set the tone for the month. December in Perry feels best when you're walking Carroll Street with a warm drink in hand, taking in the lights and the easy, unhurried feel of downtown during the holidays.

We created a guide to December's beloved holiday events, ordered by date.

November 1 – December 31

Historic Downtown Perry

The Shop Small Holiday Pass focuses on supporting local shops and restaurants and keeping holiday dollars working inside the Perry community. Once you sign up, the pass appears instantly on your phone—no app needed. Every time you shop or dine downtown, you check in by scanning a QR code posted in the business. Each check-in earns 50 points, and every 50 points can be redeemed for a raffle ticket toward $250 Downtown Dollars.

It works well with a casual December routine: a stop for hot chocolate, a look at the decorated windows, a few gifts crossed off the list—and points collected along the way. Who knows, you might be the lucky winner!

Monday, December 1 | 7:00–9:00 pm

106 Brittany Dr.

Opening night includes free photos with Santa, but the real highlight is the first look at this year's light display. Visitors either walk the loop slowly or drive through with windows cracked just enough to hear the music. Lights come on nightly—6:00–10:00 pm on weekdays and 6:00 pm–12:00 am on weekends—making it easy for families and friends to enjoy an outing together. Red lights mark general parking, and blue lights mark accessible and elderly parking.

Perry's Film Series

Friday, December 5 | 6:00–9:00 pm

Perry Events Center lawn

The City of Perry wraps up the Fall Film Series with an outdoor showing of The Santa Clause. Guests bring blankets and chairs and cuddle up as the temperature cools. Food trucks serve warm drinks and snacks, and the movie plays under the night sky—a simple, comfortable way to get into the holiday spirit.

Saturday, December 6 | 7:30–10:30 am

Perry Events Center

This annual pancake breakfast takes place the same morning as the Perry Christmas Parade, making it a tradition for families to fuel up before finding their spot along the route. Pancakes, sausage, crafts, and a digital photo with Santa are included with the $7 ticket. The Zaltana and Perry Kiwanis Clubs host the event, and this year's proceeds support Christmas for Kids.

Saturday, December 6 | 10:00 am

This year's theme, Christmas at the Movies, brings out creative floats and familiar characters. Expect 86 entries, imaginative interpretations of classic films, and performances by the Perry High and Veterans High marching bands. Each float donates a toy to Toys for Tots—more than 90 in total.

Due to road construction, the Perry Christmas Parade will follow a different route this year. The parade will begin at New Hope Baptist Church, continue up Washington Street, turn left onto Main Street, and end at the Perry VA Clinic.

Santa and Mrs. Claus close the parade on their sleigh, and downtown's holiday decorations make the route especially photogenic.

Tuesday–Thursday, December 9–11

Tours at 6:00 pm, 6:45 pm, and 7:30 pm

Boarding at Perry City Hall

The Holiday History Trolley Tours combine local storytelling with downtown's December atmosphere. Riders roll past storefront windows and lights that make familiar streets feel slightly different in winter. The tour covers Carroll Street and Main Street and focuses on the people and events that have shaped Perry.

Tickets are $10 per person and include a 30-minute tour and a small swag bag.

MeMe's Boutique
MeMe's Boutique

Thursday, December 11 | 5:00–7:00 pm

Shops stay open later, giving visitors time to browse gifts, pick up stocking stuffers, or grab hot chocolate as they move between stores.

It's a good night to walk downtown after dark, take in the lights, and check in with your Shop Small Pass while picking up gifts.

December 11–13, 18–20, 26–27 | 6:00–8:00 pm

1367 Fullwood Road, Fort Valley

$10 per family

Half Pint Haven's Christmas Extravaganza pairs a tractor-pulled ride through the farm's light display with hands-on activities at the barn. Families can warm up with hot chocolate, enjoy popcorn, decorate cookies, and spend time with the miniature animals. It's a simple, low-key outing that works well for families looking for outdoor holiday activities.

Friday, December 12 | 4:00–7:00 pm

Carolers on Carroll, hosted by the Perry Arts Council, brings live music to downtown just as the sun sets. Students from the Perry High School Panther Chorus, dressed in Victorian attire, will move along Carroll Street and through shops from 4:00 to 5:00 pm, singing familiar Christmas carols and adding a festive atmosphere to downtown.

From 5:00 to 6:00 pm, the full group will gather in front of the Christmas tree on the Perry City Hall lawn for a larger performance featuring classic songs everyone knows and loves.

Between 6:00 and 7:00 pm, smaller groups of carolers will head into downtown restaurants to continue the music for dinner guests.

Saturday, December 13 | 9:00 am–1:00 pm

1000 Ball Street (during the weekly Perry Farmers Market)

This special edition of the Perry Farmers Market expands for the busiest shopping season. Alongside the usual produce and locally made goods, visitors will find handmade crafts, gifts, baked goods, and additional artisan vendors. It's a great place to find something handmade or one-of-a-kind.

Saturday, December 13 | 12:00–4:00 pm

Historic Downtown Perry

Downtown becomes a family hub for the afternoon. Kids bounce between the trackless train, ornament-decorating tables, temporary tattoo stations, and letter-writing for Santa. Elsa and Olaf appear from noon to 1:00 pm. The event has an easy flow, and parents can take their time while their children explore.

Saturday, December 13 | 12:00–4:00 pm

106 Ag Village Blvd.

Live reindeer, cookies to decorate, ornament crafts, face painting, food trucks, and a large in-store Christmas sale make this a popular holiday stop. Many families pair it with Winter Wonderland or the Perry Farmers Market earlier that morning.

The Igloo at Sweet Evelyn's

December 2–6, 9–13, 16–20, 23–24, 26–27, 30–31

910 Carroll Street

Sweet Evelyn's is offering a one-of-a-kind holiday experience this season with its new heated igloo, available on select nights December 2–31. The enclosed space seats up to five guests for a 45-minute reservation and includes a chef's-choice selection of baked items created just for igloo visitors, along with beverages, a TV, and games.

Sweet Evelyn's owner and chef, Corey Jones, is hosting this special holiday experience. He has appeared on the Food Network three times—Halloween Baking Championship (Season 11), Holiday Wars (Season 5), and Christmas Cookie Challenge (Season 6). His shop regularly draws visitors from across the country, and the igloo experience adds another reason to stop in during December.

On select evenings, the Iglow option enhances the igloo with after-dark illumination, creating a comfortable place to gather before or after exploring downtown.

Reservations can only be made in person at Sweet Evelyn's or by phone: 910 Carroll St., Perry; 478-224-0559

A long-standing Perry tradition, the Ball Street Christmas Light Display turns this downtown block into a drive-by holiday landmark. More than 100 lights and decorations fill the front lawns and houses, creating one of the most recognizable neighborhood displays in the area. Kids especially look for Santa flying an airplane, a favorite feature that returns each year.

Visitors can tune their car radio to the display's holiday music, roll down the windows, and enjoy an easy, festive drive through one of Perry's most beloved seasonal stops.

Wednesday, December 31 | 7:00 pm–12:00 midnight

Historic Downtown Perry

Perry closes out the year with its signature event, the nationally recognized Perry Buzzard Drop, now a three-time USA TODAY 10 Best nominee. Downtown fills with live music, food trucks, Gellyball, free face painting, and a 9:00 pm Kiddie Countdown for younger children.

As midnight approaches, the buzzard descends over downtown and fireworks launch to welcome 2026. Many families bring chairs and settle in for the evening, using the event as a final holiday gathering before the new year begins.

There are many more holiday events throughout the month, including cake and cookie decorating workshops, holiday markets, Santa photo opportunities, and seasonal pop-ups. Check out Visit Perry's Facebook Events Page for more listings.
